Visiting Jivdani Mandir – A Spiritual Journey from Borivali
Jivdani Mandir
Hello friends! 🙌
I am Krishna Sonar, and today I am sharing my beautiful experience of visiting the Jivdani Mandir in Virar. I also recorded my journey for my YouTube channel – The Travel Adventure – so you can enjoy the full video there too.
About Jivdani Mandir
The Jivdani Temple is located on a hill in Virar, Maharashtra, and is dedicated to Goddess Jivdani, a form of Goddess Aai Ekvira. The temple sits at a height of about 1,500 feet above sea level, offering breathtaking views of the city and surrounding greenery. It is one of the most popular pilgrimage destinations in Maharashtra, especially visited during Navratri.
My Journey from Borivali
I started my trip from Borivali Railway Station and boarded a local train towards Virar. The train journey was comfortable and gave me glimpses of the suburban lifestyle along the way. After reaching Virar station, it was just a short ride by auto-rickshaw to the base of the Jivdani hill.
Climbing the Steps
The temple can be reached by climbing 1,500+ steps. Many devotees prefer to walk as it is considered sacred and an act of devotion. For those who find climbing difficult, there is also a ropeway facility, which saves time and energy while giving you a wonderful aerial view of the surroundings.
I decided to climb the steps to feel the spiritual journey. Along the way, I saw stalls selling coconuts, flowers, and prasad for offering at the temple. The atmosphere was filled with chants of “Jivdani Mata Ki Jai,” which kept me motivated during the climb.
At the Temple
Finally, after reaching the top, I entered the beautiful Jivdani Mata Mandir. The idol of the goddess is adorned with flowers, jewelry, and vibrant decorations. Standing there, I felt peaceful and spiritually uplifted. The temple premises also offer a panoramic view of Virar city, hills, and even glimpses of the Arabian Sea on clear days.
